Conservation International

We were very proud to provide topside and underwater support to Conservation International marine scientists during their RAP dives of Timor Leste.

RAP or Rapid Assessment Program surveys are a highly effective tool used by Conservation International to quickly assess the biological value of an area and identify species in need of conservation action. RAP deploys teams of international and host-country expert scientists to conduct rapid first-cut assessments of the biological value of selected areas. Preliminary results are made available immediately to local and international decision makers through reports and on the Internet

RAP data are then analyzed in tandem with social, economic, and other ecosystem information to develop a comprehensive conservation strategy.

Several new No-Take Zones were established in Nino Konis Santana National Park as a direct result of the research conducted by Mark Erdmann, Gerry Allen, Lyndon DeVantier, Emre Turak and local Timor Leste scientists onboard the Seawolf.

Did you know that a female sea turtle returns faithfully to nest on the exact same beach where she was born?

Go behind the scenes of the IMAX film Journey to the South Pacific to see how the film crew captured images of a turtle mother laying her eggs on the remote Wermon Island. For more information, click here!

Macgillivray Freeman Films

Swimming with whale sharks is an experience truly unlike any other and we were privileged to provide the Seawolf as a floating platform for Macgillivray Freeman Films during filming of the movie Journey to the South Pacific.
